Wow! Been along time since I’ve updated, but with good reason. The truth, I’ve just been really busy. And most of the stuff I’ve been working on, I can’t show. So, I haven’t had much chance to work on my own personal stuff. At the end of 2011, I did get some time for myself and the result was the Green Lantern piece above. Hope you like it.

2011, wow, that year went by quick. Not a bad year, not a good one either. But it was becoming a great one towards the end. Got to work with some amazing talent and meet new people. Got to know the talent coordinator at Marvel. Then he quit to pursue another opportunity that came to him. I was sad to hear that (as he was my only contact at Marvel), but I am very happy for him. I’m always happy for people that find what they love and just go for it! But, before he left, he did give me the name of a new person I can talk to, at Marvel. So, we’ll see. In 2011, I got to work with one of my favorite artist, Rob Liefeld. The experience is just plain awesome. And some of it has been published. I did some inking for him on the Infinite over at Image. I believe I have inks in issues 3 & 4. Can’t quite remember. And I’ve also done some inking for him in the new Hawk and Dove series, over at DC. Over there I worked on issues 1, 3, 5 & 6. Although it was too late to get credit for the work I did in issue one, as it was done last minute. But, the rest I did getcredit for. So, go check them out and I believe issues 5 & 6 come out soon. I also got to work with another great artist, Marat Mychaels. Can’t say what it is, but it’s been a real pleassure working with him. So, 2011 started off so so, but ended great!

2011 ended awesome and already the great things are spilling into 2012. In 2012, I will continue to ink for Rob Liefeld and continue working with Marat Mychaels. Already found out that my piece was accepted into the Emerald City Comic Con’s Monsters and Dames Art Book. It is a beautiful hardbound art book filled with some of the greatest artists working in the industry today. It’s an honor to be included in this special book. Plus, some of the proceeds, from the sales of the book, go towards the Children’s Hospital in Seattle. I also have another big project lined up featuring one of the 80′s biggest icons. More on that later. Also going to start writing my own comic here in the near future. Pretty excited about that. Never actually written a comic before, so it’ll be an interesting experience. I’m also going to try and attend more conventions. I have 2 lined up so far that I will definitely be at. The first one is the Image Comics Expo in Oakland, CA. That one is February 24th thru the 26th. And the second one is the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, WA. That one is March 30th, 31st, & April 1st. And that is were you will be able to purchase the Monsters and Dames Art Book. So mark your calendars! And if there’s a convention you’d like me to attend, let me know and we’ll see what we can do.

2012…… this is the year. I can feel it! My goal for this year, is to be able to make a living off my art. It will be tough, but I am going to give it my all! I can also use your help. If you want to see me work at Marvel or DC, let them know. Let your voices be heard! Tell your friends about me. Help me spread the word.

2012. The past is the past. Let’s move forward!

Whew, seems like forever since I’ve updated. But, there’s a reason for that. I’ve just been busy working on the stuff you guys want to see (at least I hope you want to see it). Since the news is out, it’s okay for me to tell you. One of my dreams has come true. Rob Liefeld has hired me to ink some of his various projects. I have been a fan of his work when I first saw it in a Spectacular Spider-man Annual way back when. Or was it the Amazing Spider-man Annual? I dunno, it was one of the Spider-man Annuals. I just love his work. I like the energy he brings to his work and his comics are just fun. So, when he offered me the job, I was on cloud nine. And not only am I inking one of the biggest names in comics, but it will also be published by Marvel. Dream number two! It has always been a dream of mine to have my stuff published by Marvel and here I am killing two birds with one stone! Liefeld and Marvel. Hopefully, this is the start of things to come!

As you know (or you do now), all my work is completely digital. So, owning an original piece by me is pretty rare, since all my originals are in the computer. But, owning an original done by me is not impossible, as I will do some random sketches and put them up on Ebay from time to time, and give you guys the opportunity to get your hands on an original Jacob Bear piece for a really cheap price. But, if Ebay is not really your thing, but would still like to own an original by me, it’s cool because I also take commissions. Just shoot me an email for prices and I’ll hook you up! So, I guess getting an original by me is pretty easy.

Was in the mood to draw Captain America! Looking forward to seeing the movie this summer. Anybody else? Also, just to let you all know, Saturday, May 21st I’ll be at the Spokane Comic Con. So, if you’re in the area, stop by and say hi.

I didn’t like how the previous one turned out, as it didn’t look quite right, so I quickly went back in there and fixed the things that were bothering me. I think the new one looks much better.

Well, would you look at that, an update! And it hasn’t even been a month yet! Above is my ink attempt over Marvel artist, Reilly Brown. I was going for speed on this one, as I’m trying to get faster with my inking. This page probably took me about 6 hours. I think it came out alright. What do you guys think?

That’s right! Bear Claw Studios is back online! It’s been over 2 years since the last time this thing was updated, so bless the 2 of you that kept checking in on this site. I bet you’re surprised now? A lot of people commented that they liked the design of the old website, and I thank you for that, but it was time for an overhaul. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the design of the old site as well, but it was a pain in the butt to update. Hence the reason for no updates for the past 2 years. This new site is way better and more practical for me. It’s way more easy to update than the last one. Even though I didn’t update this site for the last 2 years, I still had a presence online. Deviant Art was were I was giving updates, on the things I have been doing. I will still have that place and you can check it out by clicking on the link to the right, but I know a lot of people hated it, just because you’d never know what kind of virus would sneak in with the ads. That’s why I paid for it, to get rid of the ads, so I didn’t have that problem anymore. And it worked great, but it just wasn’t Bear Claw Studios. This place is! I love this new site! It’s more easy to update and it also allows you to communicate better with me. You can either email me or just leave a comment. It’s more easy for me to add stuff to the Gallery and more easy for me to post in my blog.

So, keep checking back, as I will be updating this place much more often. And if it’s been awhile since I’ve updated, that just means I’m busy bringing you more of that art goodness you all like!
